Resurrecting this charming 1936 family treasure was a real pleasure. Everyone who worked on this project fell in love with this delightful instrument.
The Strohmenger had fallen on hard times and a full rebuild and repolish were necessary.
Despite its small size, very rare symmetrical shape and rear-opening lid, the piano's tonal quality is remarkable - a tribute to the well-thought-through design.
We started by recapping the bridges and refinishing the soundboard, installing a new tuning plank and restringing the piano. The pedal lyra was reconstructed and new dampers, hammers and shanks were fitted before a full repolish was carried out to complete the transformation.
